I’ll start off with, I’m an ASE certified mechanic, specifically my certs are for brakes and suspension/steering. The other day I was replacing some stuff on my 2nd gen Sequoia, rear CV’s, shocks and front struts and a leveling kit. Fun stuff. But something stuck in the back of my head, I have an 07 Tundra that’s had constant issues with the OE clips falling out and scraping and grinding on the rotor, so I had an idea, I had recently did a brake job on a 2020 Silverado 1500 (specifically with the 2.7 turbo engine) why is this important you might be wondering? Well, it just so happens I have a problem with keeping old brake parts around, and got an idea that, “they look similar, so I wonder if they’ll fit” turns out, they do, the specifications between Toyota and GM as far as those clips go and some notches in the pads, are identical. I’m currently running them and will be investigating the front brakes next weekend to determine if there is any concerns, fitment issues, uneven wear and so on. I’ll also have photo next weekend and I’ll double check the exact year range of the Chevy I worked on just so everything is 100% certain.
