I'm wondering what everyone is doing for upgrades on your Gen 1s? I currently have a wireless backup camera that I installed, but I will be installing a touch screen radio with a wired backup camera. I would like to find a way to get a garage door opener that will open newer garage doors. My 2001 Sequoia will not work with my current garage door. What are some other things you are doing to 'modernize' your Gen 1?
I've been slowly upgrading over the last year on my 2001 Limited 4wd:
Suspension (upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, front struts, 2" front lift pucks (was 3", rear already 3"), poly sway bushings, poly steering rack bushings, 1" front diff drop)
Stereo, speakers, and video:
Kicker KSS365 (front doors) and KS 6.5 peakers (rear doors) Alpine touchscreen radio and matching Alpine powerpack amp (50 watts x 4 channels), charge ports (6 of them--2 front, 1 lower rear center console, 2 for 3rd row, 1 for rear storage area), back-up and front camera, and front and rear dash cams. While there is some complexity to the install (bypassing factory JBL amps, repinning wire harnesses, fishing wires thru rear hatch, etc), if you use YouTube and AI searches, you can find all the details to do the install.
