Cranks, no start, until u bang on fuel tank, when fuel 1/2 tank or less

My wife has a 2012 Sequoia that when there is less than 1/4 tank (now 1/2 tank) of fuel, it will crank but not start until you crawl under the vehicle and bang on the bottom of the fuel tank…..

No codes. I have a new fuel pump for it but have not installed it yet…

Likely a bad fuel pump. Electric motors get stuck when the shaft has too much play, hitting them unsticks them. Hence why hitting a starter makes it work sometimes(not applicable to all starters, especially newer ones will be perm. damaged by this.)

After reading many threads and posts about this issue, I replaced both the fuel pump and the fuel controller module. The module was pretty corroded on the outside, I know that doesn’t mean it’ was bad, but….

Result, starts and runs as it should, expensive repair, but it won’t leave my wife stranded!

My daughter has a 2007 Sequioa that starts when it wants. Fuel pump has been changed but could it have been a bad one? or maybe installation hickup? I spent 7 days messing with it when she had back surgery. I did find a problem with the old chipped key the previous owner gave her. It did not read the immobilizer at all times, so I had a key guy come over and relearn the key to the ECM and immobilizer. It did make it start easier but the next day after running errands it failed to start until it sat for 20 minutes. Is the fuel pump loading up and no coming back after a shirt drive? anybody just chime in please.. daughter and grandson love the big beast ..
